WACO, Texas (Oct. 3, 2019) — This week, Baylor University will host a variety of special events to celebrate Homecoming weekend Oct. 10-12, as well as lectures and performances in the fields of religion, chemistry, environmental science, biology, music and entrepreneurship. The week also will include movie screenings, a jazz ensemble performance, the Baylor University Flight Center grand opening and a guest piano recital.

SUNDAY, Oct. 6
Emergence: Art and the Incarnation of Space – Martin Museum of Art will host its final presentation of “Emergence: Art and the Incarnation of Space” exhibit in the Hooper-Schaefer Fine Arts Center, 60 Baylor Ave. The exhibit is free and open to the public. Piano Recital – Gregory Partain, acclaimed pianist and professor of music at Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky, will present a guest piano recital at 3 p.m. in Roxy Grove Hall, 624 Speight Ave. For more information, visit the School of Music website.

MONDAY, Oct. 7
Chapel Highlights – Chapel will celebrate Homecoming with a special service to emphasize Baylor’s past and all who have called it home since 1845. Flight Center Grand Opening – The grand opening of the Baylor University Flight Center will be held at 6 p.m. in the Texas Aero building of the Waco Regional Airport, 7727 Karl May Drive. This is a joint event hosted by the Baylor Institute for Air Science and Universal Flight Concepts and will include airport and city officials, a live band, food and Bruiser in his aviation gear. TUESDAY, Oct. 8
1845 Business Incubator – Baylor’s department of entrepreneurship and corporate innovation will host entrepreneur, military veteran and fitness enthusiast Nick Bare to speak about his journey of starting and owning a business. Academy for Leader Development Lecture – Claire Diaz-Ortiz is the guest speaker for the Academy for Leader Development Lecture Series at 7 p.m. in Room 250 of the Paul L. Foster Campus for Business and Innovation, 1621 S. Third St. Diaz-Ortiz is an author, speaker, innovation advisor and angel investor who was an early employee at Twitter. This event is free and open to the public.
Jazz Ensemble – Led by Alex Parker, director of the Wayne Fisher Jazz Program at Baylor University, the Jazz Ensemble will perform from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Jones Concert Hall of the Glennis McCrary Music Building, 110 Baylor Ave. This event is free and open to the public. Gallery Talk – Center for Reservoir and Aquatic Systems Research environmental education specialist Melissa Mullins, Ph.D., will present “Mysteries of the Museum: Water, Water, Everywhere” from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Mayborn Museum Complex, 1300 S. SATURDAY, Oct. 12
Homecoming – Saturday’s events for Baylor’s 110th anniversary Homecoming include the annual Homecoming Parade, one of the oldest and largest collegiate homecoming parades in the nation from 8 to 10:30 a.m. KCEN-TV Ch. 6 will broadcast the parade beginning at 8:30 a.m. with live TV and streaming coverage from Fifth Street on the Baylor campus. Following the parade, the Baylor Bears will host Texas Tech at 3 p.m. in McLane Stadium. Game tickets are available at baylorbears.com/tickets.
