Born and raised in Arkansas, Sarah Wood had never heard of Baylor until her long-time neighbors (and Baylor grads) encouraged her to pursue the university. "If not for my neighbors, it would have been just another school," Sarah said. "They really peaked my interest in Baylor."
Except for a hometown acquaintance, Sarah didn't know anyone when she began classes at Baylor. However, she soon joined Freshmen Class Counsel and Sigma Phi Lambda, an independent national sorority focused on glorifying God. "Through Phi Lamb, I grew into a stronger leader and follower of Christ, and I formed life-long friendships," Sarah said.
While at Baylor, Sarah worked three different on-campus jobs that allowed her to interact with students on a daily basis. After her freshman year, Sarah served as a Line Camp Leader as well as a Community Leader, giving her the opportunity to invest in incoming students. During her junior and senior years, Sarah also worked at the Campus Visits office, where she led group tours of the campus. "Working in Campus Visits opened my eyes to what the admissions process looked like," Sarah said. "I found a passion for sharing Baylor with other students."
After working at Campus Visits, Sarah knew she wanted to continue working with students as an Admissions Counselor. "I feel called to give back to Baylor because I really grew into myself here," Sarah said. "I want to impact the next generation of Bears."
