Philosophy

The Philosophy major provides a solid foundation in the history of philosophy.  It also provides an in-depth study of specific subject areas including logic, ethics, aesthetics, epistemology, and metaphysics. A Philosophy major is ideal for students wanting to continue their education beyond an undergraduate degree.  Available courses include:

  • Law, Science, and Society
  • Introduction to Ethics
  • Philosophy of Science
  • History of Medicine
  • Philosophical Issues in Feminism

The Philosophy Department offers a Pre-Law track. This track is not a major.  It provides students planning on pursuing a law degree to select core courses that best prepare them for law school. Philosophy is also offered as a minor for students wishing to enhance another academic major.

Baylor offers many study abroad programs.  One in particular that is ideal for Religion, Philosophy and Great Texts majors is Baylor in St. Andrews.  Located in Scotland, it is a wonderful opportunity for students to study at one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in the world.
