Communication Sciences and Disorders assesses and treats speech, language, and hearing abilities and disorders. In this field, professionals seek to diagnose and treat a variety of disorders, improving communication while also improving quality of life. Baylor's major in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) emphasizes speech-language pathology and offers comprehensive education in the fundamental principles of the field. Available courses include:

  • Language Development
  • Fluency and Voice
  • Speech Science
  • Articulation
  • Diagnostic Methods

Baylor's program also offers a minor in American Sign Language and a Deaf Education track. Graduates can anticipate career opportunities as speech pathologists, audiologists, special education teachers, counselors, consultants or speech and hearing therapists.

The Communication Sciences and Disorders program provides two summer abroad programs specifically designed for CSD students. Both programs are located in Honduras and assist the community with language education and behavior management. This unique experience allows Baylor students the opportunity to apply information they have learned in the classroom to a real-world, multicultural environment.

Baylor University offers several Living-Learning Centers, which are housing opportunities designed to place students of common interests together in living and learning environments. Baylor offers a Science and Health Living-Learning Center where students with common interest in pursuing a career in medicine and the sciences will be able to collaborate with each other as well as science faculty and medical researchers.
