Philosophy

The Philosophy major provides a solid foundation in the history of philosophy as well as an in-depth study of specific subject areas, including logic, ethics, aesthetics, epistemology, and metaphysics. A Philosophy major is ideal for students wanting to continue their schooling beyond an undergraduate degree. Available courses include:

  • Law, Science, and Society
  • Introduction to Ethics
  • Philosophy of Science
  • History of Medicine
  • Philosophical Issues in Feminism

In addition to a general Philosophy major, the Philosophy Department offers a Pre-Law track. Though not a major, this track provides students planning on pursuing a law degree with the opportunity to select core courses that best prepare them for law school. Philosophy is also offered as a minor for students wishing to enhance another academic major.

Baylor offers a number of study abroad programs, one in particular that is ideal for Religion, Philosophy and Great Texts majors. Baylor in St. Andrews, located at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, is a wonderful opportunity for students interested in history and culture to study at one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in the world.
