Baylor's engineering program is ranked 11th among universities with the "Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs," according to US News and World Report. The Engineering major offers two different tracks for students. The Bio-medical track includes additional courses from the bio-medical sciences and provides a strong foundation for students wishing to enter the bio-medical engineering field or medical school. The Flexible Engineering option allows students to select one of the several sets of specialized engineering courses offered through the Engineering Department. Students choosing the flexible option develop a Statement of Purpose, defining and detailing the students' specific career goals. Students then work with a program director to outline their degree plan. Available courses include:

  • Bioinstrumentation
  • Biomechanics
  • Signals and Systems
  • Strength of Materials
  • Electrical Circuit Theory

Owing to the value of hands-on experience, Baylor helps students find rich opportunities for summer internships. Most students in the general Engineering degree have chosen this program with the intent to continue their education through graduate studies.

The Engineering program offers a unique study abroad opportunity, the i5 Program (Immersion Into International Interdisciplinary Innovation). The program is designed to help students develop science and technology insight, business savvy and global cultural competence through real-world business, engineering, and computer science experiences. Students spend five weeks in China and earn six credit hours.

Baylor offers three residential colleges for students wishing to live and invest in a community of students with similar interests. Among these is the Teal Residential College for Engineering and Computer Science located in the East Village residential area.
