The Elementary Education program at Baylor prepares students to work in grades Pre-K through 6. Graduates of the Elementary program earn a Bachelor of Science in Education (B.S. Ed.) with Elementary Generalist certification. Supplemental certification may be added in English as a Second Language, Gifted and Talented Education or Special Education.
The School of Education offers a unique experience for Teacher Education majors. Unlike other programs, Baylor's School of Education offers seven semesters of hands-on experience in the classroom. The program builds upon the classroom knowledge and the students are given increasing responsibility each semester. By the students' senior year, they are teaching full time during the fall and spring semesters. Several schools in Waco partner with the Baylor School of Education to provide field experience for Teacher Education majors.
Other available School of Education majors include:
Teacher Certification is also offered through Math, Biology, Family Sciences and Human Development majors.
Education majors can participate in four study abroad opportunities. All trips involve working in host-country schools alongside a Baylor School of Education faculty member.
