Faculty Sign-Up for Undergraduate Recruitment Events

Because transformational education begins with the students who enroll, you are asked to recruit students who are a good fit both for your field of study as well as Baylor University. We ask for your assistance in recruiting future Baylor graduates.

Feedback from our recruiting efforts consistently reveals that interaction with faculty is an extraordinarily positive experience for prospective students and their families. Often, contact with faculty can seal the deal with a prospective student who is faced with making an important life decision. Because we rely on your excellent representation, please review these descriptions to determine at which event you and your faculty can best apply your talents to recruit students that will produce an academically excellent and diverse student body.

Event Descriptions and Faculty Needs

Baylor Premiere

Fall Premiere (Saturday, September 27, 2014)
Spring Premiere (Saturday, April 11, 2015)
9:00 am - 12:30 pm

Premiere is a Saturday event designed for prospective freshman and transfers (and their parents) to learn more about Baylor. Faculty participation for this event involves planning a 45 minute professional, engaging presentation using current students and multi-media. Faculty participants are representing the best of Baylor and the best of their department. Please be prepared to welcome guests 30 minutes prior to your academic session. Presenters need to be poised and understand well the competitive recruiting environment we are in. It is critical that the faculty presenters understand how to communicate effectively and enthusiastically what Baylor and your program have to offer college students today.

***Please plan on one back-up faculty member for each session in case of an emergency***

Deadline for Fall Premiere sign up: Wednesday, September 17, 2014
Deadline for Spring Premiere sign up: Friday, March 27, 2015

Sign up by emailing Alexis_Tyler@baylor.edu with name, email and academic session you will be covering. Mrs. Tyler will email the faculty members a week in advance of each event with more specific information.

Invitation to Excellence

Invitation to Excellence is a special weekend program that showcases the exciting academic opportunities Baylor has to offer. Invitation to Excellence participants receive a $2,000 scholarship toward Baylor tuition and are also eligible to apply for a limited number of full-tuition Faculty Scholarships, only available to students entering as freshmen in the following fall who participate in one of the academic groups on Saturday afternoon.

Friday Night Dinner and Dessert Reception
Fall I2E (Friday, October 24, 2014 at the Ferrell Center)
Spring I2E (Friday, January 23, 2015 at the Waco Convention Center)
5:30 pm - 9:00 pm (exact arrival and departure times TBD)

Faculty participation for this event involves hosting a table of students (and their parents) who have indicated that they are specifically interested in your department at an elegant dinner. Because the students who attend report that the highlight of the entire evening is visiting with faculty members during dinner, it is particularly important to align student and faculty interests at each table. Carefully select faculty members who easily engage parents and students in conversation. It is critical that the faculty hosts understand how to communicate effectively and enthusiastically what Baylor and your program have to offer young high-achieving students.

After dinner, Judge Starr will invite all guests and faculty to a Dessert Reception. Each faculty member will need to invite a current Baylor student to attend the Dessert Reception as a student representative from the respective department/major.

Deadline for Fall I2E sign up: Monday, September 22, 2014
Deadline for Spring I2E sign up: Monday, December 1, 2014

Sign up for the Friday Night Dinner using the Invitation to Excellence Faculty Sign-Up Form.

Please email Alexis_Tyler@baylor.edu by the aforementioned deadlines with your student representative for the dessert reception. Mrs. Tyler will email the faculty members a week in advance of each event with more specific information.

Know Where You're Going Day

Friday, December 5, 2014
Spring Date TBD

Know Where You're Going Day is an event designed for accepted seniors and transfers (and their parents) who have not yet visited campus. These students are typically still trying to decide whether Baylor is the right choice for them.

Faculty participation for this event involves attending a Dr Pepper Hour where you will represent your school or college and mingle with students and their parents. Time is to be determined based on the athletic calendar. Carefully select faculty members who easily engage parents and students in conversation about what your program has to offer.

Deadline for Fall KWYGD sign up: Friday, November 21, 2014

Sign up by emailing Alexis_Tyler@baylor.edu with your name, email and department/school/college you are representing. Mrs. Tyler will email the faculty members a week in advance of each event with more specific information.

Baylor Rally

Many events throughout the month of April.

Baylor Rallies are traveling events that offer prospective students and their parents a closer look at what Baylor has to offer. These events feature Baylor professors and students, as well as admissions representatives. This is a great time for students to get to know Baylor in their own city. Presenters need to be poised and understand well the competitive recruiting environment we are in. It is critical that the faculty presenters understand how to communicate effectively and enthusiastically what Baylor and your program have to offer college students today. With effective faculty representation, Baylor Rallies are very effective at yielding strong students who are an excellent fit for Baylor.

Sign up by emailing Alexis_Tyler@baylor.edu with your name, email and department/school/college you are representing. Mrs. Tyler will email the faculty members a week in advance of each event with more specific information.
