Baylor Lariat: Students aim to bring clean water to world

The Baylor African Student Association (ASA) collaborated with the Water Project Foundation to help people in impoverished communities have easier access to clean water. They have raised nearly $3,000 in the past two years, primarily through their take-a-date and “A Night in Africa” fashion show. “It’s held really closely to us because we know that these differences actually do matter and it happens to people that we know and love,” said Mima Fondong, president of the ASA.

Health Care Communication News: Millennials unprepared to serve as ‘ethical conscience’ in PR

A Baylor University study led by Marlene Neill, Ph.D., assistant professor of journalism, public relations and new media in the College of Arts & Sciences, found that most millennial public relations professionals are shying away from roles as a conscience within their organizations. Only a third agreed that they feel prepared for that role – and most don’t expect to encounter ethical dilemmas. Study findings show the need for mentoring, college ethics courses and workplace training, Neill said. (Terry Goodrich, assistant director of Media Communications, pitched this research nationally.)
