AUDIO LINK INCLUDED: One of the great feats of Baylor’s McLane stadium is how wired it is, but what does it take to supply 45,000 people with cell phone coverage…in a place that didn’t really offer coverage before? KWBU’s Ryland Barton introduces listeners to Baylor and AT&T’s distributed antenna system, or DAS, that allows fans to send and receive about 660 gigabytes of texts, tweets, and video clips every football game. Interviewed for the story are Bob Hartland, associate vice president of information technology infrastructure at Baylor, and Pattie Orr, vice president of information technology. WACO, Texas (Nov. 21, 2014) – Since 2001, Baylor University has invested more than $1 billion in new academic, residential and athletics facilities on its campus. Today, Baylor reached the significant “topping out” milestone – or midpoint of construction – on its latest project: the $100 million, 275,000-square-foot Paul L. Foster Campus for Business and Innovation. When it opens in fall 2015, the Foster Campus will provide a dynamic new home for the University’s nationally ranked Hankamer School of Business.
