Mrs. Hightower is a Lecturer at Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing. She specializes in Child Rearing Family and Professional Nursing Practice. She received her MSN from Texas Woman's University in Denton, Texas, and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Baylor University, Waco, Texas. Before teaching at Baylor, she practiced for over 15 years in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

Marilyn Hightower is active on many Baylor committees. She is a member of the University Undergraduate Curriculum Committee, the Baylor Health Care Initiative, and the Academic Policies Committee. Her professional activities include participating in the National League of Nursing and Sigma Theta Tau. Finally, Marilyn is involved in the community. She is involved in the Texas Hunger Initiative and Healthy Kid Zone Schools supported by The Cooper Clinic and the Aikman Foundation.

Marilyn has also published a chapter titled, "Disorders of Skeletal Function: Trauma, Infections, and Neoplasms" in Pathophysiology: Concepts of Altered Health Status". She has written for the Journal of Adolescent Health and has presented research at the Texas Baptist Church Weekday Education, The Seventh Annual Conference of the 1994 Endocrinology Nursing Society, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation International 1992 Symposium, and the Annual Regional CF Conference.
