Overview

The United States Army Graduate Program in Anesthesia Nursing (USAGPAN) educates and prepares individuals to become independent Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs).  Upon graduation, ARMY CRNAs will serve for five years with the option to stay in and continue to serve while increasing rank and salary as well as function as respected members of the military healthcare team.  Army and Veteran’s Administration (VA) CRNAs provide full-spectrum anesthesia at Army and VA hospitals across the continental United States, Hawaii, Europe, Korea, and anywhere in the world they are needed.

For more than half a century, the Baylor University Graduate School has been the academic host for health-related programs affiliated with the US Army, principally at Ft. Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas, but also at the following: US Military Academy, West Point, New York; Madigan Army Medical Center, Ft. Lewis, Washington; William Beaumont Army Medical Center, Ft. Bliss, Texas; and, Darnall Army Medical Center, Ft. Hood, Texas. Baylor University is honored by the privilege of serving our country through these health-related educational programs. The Baylor University LHSON DNP program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.* The USAGPAN program is accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA) for the maximum allowable ten years through October, 2021.   • Pass Rate for first time test-takers on the National Certification Exam (NCE) offered through the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) for the class that graduated in 2017 is 95.65%.
  • The employment rate for the class that graduated in 2017 is 100 percent.
  • The attrition rate for the graduating class in 2017 is 22.6%.

Students in the United States Army Graduate Program in Anesthesia Nursing (USAGPAN) must complete all courses and requirements listed below unless otherwise indicated.

  • All applicants must complete and submit their application by 8/15/18 for class starting June 2019. Classes start every June so the deadline will remain the same annually.
