Jennifer Woo, PhD, CNM/WHNP, RN is a clinical assistant professor at Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing where she teaches advanced health assessment and nurse midwifery specialty courses including both didactic and practicum courses in the doctor of nursing practice program , and also has experience in simulation education both at the undergraduate and graduate level.  She is also the DNP Nurse Midwifery specialty program coordinator.  She has been working as a full scope nurse midwife since 2006 and has experience in working in underserved patient populations.  Her scholarship broadly concerns health disparities in maternal child health outcomes, and more specifically with pregnant women and vitamin D deficiency. In her research Dr. Woo has explored the impact vitamin D deficiency can have in pregnant women and its relationship with poorer sleep quality, poorer quality of life and pregnancy outcomes. Dr. Woo received a PhD from Loyola University and received training under the mentorship of Dr. Sue Penckofer on her NIH R01 study entitled “Sunshine 2 Study”.  She has presented her work as a speaker at American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM) conference (2016, 2017) and at Sigma Theta Tau International conference in Dublin, Ireland (2017).
