WACO, Texas (Nov. 28, 2016) – Baylor University's undergraduate entrepreneurship program in the Hankamer School of Business has been ranked No. 5 among the "Top 25 Undergraduate Schools for Entrepreneurship Studies for 2017," according to the latest rankings from The Princeton Review and Entrepreneur magazine.

The Princeton Review's lists of top schools for entrepreneurship education for 2017 is available at www.princetonreview.com/entrepreneur and on the Entrepreneur magazine website at www.entrepreneur.com/topcolleges.

The top-five ranking is the latest accolade for Baylor's entrepreneurship program. In September, the program moved up from No. 13 to No. 9 overall in the U.S. News & World Report business school rankings, marking the first time the undergraduate entrepreneurship program moved into the U.S. News top 10.

"We are very pleased that the entrepreneurship program at Baylor continues to be recognized as one of the top programs in the world – a position it has now held for many years," said Kendall Artz, Ph.D., The Curtis Hankamer Chair in Entrepreneurship and director of entrepreneurial studies in the department of entrepreneurship and corporate innovation at Baylor. "It is truly a testament to the continued dedication and creativity by the entrepreneurship department faculty and staff, and would not be possible without the resources provided by the alumni and friends of our program."

Established in 1978, Baylor's program offers 31 entrepreneurship-related undergraduate courses. Over the last five years, its graduates have started 280 companies and have collectively raised $30 million in funding. Over the last 10 years, its graduates have started 430 companies and have collectively raised $70 million in funding. During the 2015-16 academic year Baylor entrepreneurship students won $5,000 in prize money at competitions.

All of Baylor's undergraduate entrepreneurship faculty have started, bought or run a successful business, and 170 individual mentors worked with students through an officially sponsored school program.

The list of top 25 undergraduate and top 25 graduate schools is based on a survey of more than 300 schools offering programs in entrepreneurship studies. More than three dozen data points were analyzed for the rankings, including the percentage of faculty, students and alumni actively and successfully involved in entrepreneurial endeavors, the number and reach of mentorship programs, and funding for scholarships and grants for entrepreneurial studies and projects.

The Princeton Review has reported its lists of top schools for entrepreneurship programs annually since 2006 in partnership with Entrepreneur Media Inc., publisher of Entrepreneur magazine. Entrepreneur will carry a feature article on the lists in its December issue.

"It's exciting that schools across the country are embracing entrepreneurism, exploring and developing new ways to promote it, and preparing their students for an ever-changing economy that's full of opportunities. And it'll be even more exciting to see what these students do next," said Jason Feifer, editor-in-chief of Entrepreneur magazine.
