CAL Not Available to New BorrowersApril 21, 2008The College Access Loan (CAL) allocation available from the state of Texas for 2008-2009 is not sufficient to meet the requests of all Texas residents enrolled at Baylor University. Therefore, we will certify eligibility only for those students who previously borrowed from the CAL program at Baylor (2007-2008 or earlier).
Our allocation of CAL funding for 2007-2008 has been exhausted. We are not able to certify CAL eligibility for the 2008 summer session.
Students who are not able to pursue the CAL but wish to pursue additional loan funding may apply for a Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS) or a private alternative loan with the lender of their choice. The maximum amount available is the cost of attendance less other financial aid awarded.
If the parents are denied the PLUS, then freshmen and sophomores can receive an additional $4000 and juniors and seniors can receive an additional $5000 from the unsubsidized Stafford Loan program by providing a copy of the PLUS denial to the Office of Academic Scholarships and Financial Aid.
Students who have questions about their financial aid should contact the Office of Academic Scholarships and Financial Aid to speak with a counselor.
