Renewing your Merit-based Baylor Scholarships

Dec. 13, 2007

Updated 6/2/2008

WACO, TX - It is important to remember that you must meet the renewal requirements for your merit-based Baylor scholarships in order to receive them for the spring semester.

Sophomores

If you are a Baylor sophomore who received a freshman merit-based Baylor scholarship (Regents', President's, Provost's, Deans', Founders', Achievement), and you did not have a cumulative Baylor GPA of 3.0 or better after your freshman year, then you received your merit-based Baylor scholarship on probation for the 2007 fall semester to give you an opportunity to raise your cumulative Baylor GPA back up to the required 3.0 minimum.

If you received your merit-based scholarship on probation for the 2007 fall semester, then your 2007 fall grades will be reviewed once they are posted to determine if you can receive the scholarship again for the 2008 spring semester.

We will begin that review process on December 17th, provided all of your 2007 fall grades have been posted.

If at that time you have a cumulative Baylor GPA of 3.0 or better, then the spring portion of your merit-based Baylor scholarship will be reinstated. If, however, after your fall grades post you do not have a cumulative Baylor GPA of 3.0 or better, then your merit-based Baylor scholarship will be discontinued.

In which case you need to be prepared to pay the spring charges that were covered by your merit-based Baylor scholarship(s) in the fall semester.

IMPORTANT: Transfer Baylor Scholarships do not have a probation period.

Juniors and Seniors

Baylor juniors and seniors whose cumulative Baylor GPA falls below the minimum required 3.0 after their 2008 spring grades are posted will have their merit-based Baylor scholarship discontinued. Unfortunately, there is no probation period available for Baylor students receiving a merit-based Baylor scholarship beyond the fall semester of their sophomore year.

I Need Additional Funds for my 2008 Spring Bill

If you require additional funding, and you want to apply for an Alternative Loan, you are strongly encouraged to do so immediately. It can take about two weeks for an Alternative Loan to be fully processed and apply to your 2008 Spring bill.

We have a lender list you can use if you need a place to start in researching Alternative Loans. You are not restricted to the lenders on this list. You can use any lender you choose provided that lender has an Alternative Loan product.
