Baptist News Global: Texas Baptist headquarters building transferred to Baylor nursing school

Representatives of the Baptist General Convention of Texas Executive Board staff and Baylor’s Louise Herrington School of Nursing joined in a “passing the mantle” ceremony on Aug. 26. After nearly 30 years in the Dallas building, the BGCT has passed the facilities on to Baylor nursing school. “Now, with the Louise Herrington School of Nursing making use of this facility, we Texas Baptists are confident and excited that many lives will enjoy the positive physical benefits of extraordinary nursing care from a spiritual foundation. The future is bright for Texas Baptists and Baylor Nurses,” said BGCT Executive Director David Hardage. Baylor Lariat: New app to increase safety on campus

Baylor University has joined the list of colleges using the Rave Guardian app to promote safety on campus. The app allows students, faculty and staff to communicate easily with the police department in the event of an emergency. Quoted are Baylor Police Chief Brad Wigtil and Mark Childers, associate vice president for public safety and security. According to Wigtil, “The ability to communicate with the police department is critical.” Referring to the usefulness of the app, Childers said “If there’s something going on that doesn’t look right, doesn’t seem right, that may be critical, (users) can report that real time and we can respond to it real time and stop whatever the threat is.”

Baylor to Debut New Television Commercial Sept. 4

WACO, Texas (Aug. 31, 2015) – Baylor University will debut its new television commercial during Friday’s nationally televised football game between Baylor and SMU. The featured game on ESPN, the Bears and Mustangs will kick off at 6 p.m. at Gerald J. Ford Stadium in Dallas.
