Baylor Business Fellows

BBF
Do You Want To:
  • Study more than one field in depth?
  • Combine pre-medical or pre-law studies with business?
  • Receive individualized guidance to identify your career goals and design a degree plan to achieve them?
  • Have the flexibility to change direction as your career goals evolve and still graduate in four years?
  • Learn a foreign language and study abroad?
  • Take the most challenging courses for which you are qualified?
  • Achieve mastery (not just a superficial knowledge) of business-related skills (math, computer skills, research skills...)?
  • Become part of a scholarly group?
  • Have a goal-driven, customized degree plan that maximizes your marketability when you graduate?

Then Baylor Business Fellows is for you.

What Is It?

Baylor Business Fellows is a major leading to a BBA degree. It is designed for gifted, high-achieving students with very high career goals—goals that cannot easily be met through traditional degree programs in four years. It is for students with a genuine intellectual curiosity and desire to excel in business and other fields.

Goal-driven, in-depth advising with an emphasis on depth of knowledge characterizes a Fellows degree. It is not designed to give the student a wide, surface understanding of many academic areas, but to achieve proficiency in a few, well-chosen, areas that fit the student's career goals. A Fellows degree plan is the result of a collaborative effort between the student and his/her advisor to further his/her career objectives based on the student's individual interests and talents.

What is Special About It?

Flexibility
Students have choices in electives and in core business courses. Traditional degrees have 6 - 10 electives, Business Fellows have 30.
Individuality
Each student receives in-depth, one-on-one advising. The goal is to design a unique program for each student that allows for rigorous academic exploration combined with a focused progression toward his/her career goals.
Marketability
Students gain a skill set that enables them to gain acceptance into the job market or graduate school of their choice and be successful when they get there.
Scholarship
Fellows are encouraged to take the most challenging courses within their capabilities in order to maximize the value of their four years at Baylor.
Efficiency
Students can study several areas in depth—not just one (see Additional Majors).
