Central Texas continues to be an incubator for entrepreneurs. In fact, 16 entrepreneurs will be recognized on the evening of Nov. 28 for completing one of two FastTrac entrepreneurship training programs offered by The John F. Baugh Center for Entrepreneurship at Baylor University's Hankamer School of Business, the City of Waco, the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce and the Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership Inc. at the Ewing Marion Foundation.

Several already-established companies in the Waco area will graduate from FastTrac GrowthVenture, a class that focuses on helping already-operating entrepreneurs grow their business to the next level. These businesses include Crybabies, Virginia Ellis and Tracy Sage; Hero Video Productions, Sherri Jurls; Beatnix Coffeehouse, Todd Millerd; Lake Brazos Steakhouse, Shane Morgan; and Quik Pak Foods Stores, Inc./Dameron Oil Company, Shelly Negrete.

Aspiring entrepreneurs attended FastTrac NewVenture, where they developed a business plan for their start-up venture, as well as assessed their ideas and their own personal abilities as entrepreneurs. These graduates include the following: Keva Juice, Richard Amos; Mum's the Word, Gale Gregory; The French Bistro and Bakery, Steve Hornbaker; Ka Reid Agency, Keith Reid; Bryan Stelley Insurance Agency, Bryan Stelley; Wayne's World of Music, Wayne Wigley; and Solutioneer, Sarah Potter Howell.

Speaking at the graduation event will be successful entrepreneurs Julie Burleson and Suzy Nettles, founders of Young Chefs Academy, who also attended FastTrac training. Young Chefs Academy started from a weekend-only operation to more than 43 franchised locations and deals for 135 more to open by 2007 across the nation, all in a single year.

Applications for the next FastTrac classes are being accepted now. Classes begin on January 16. Contact Malinda Green at 254-710-4157 for more information or to request a brochure.

Nationally acclaimed, FastTrac was created by entrepreneurs in collaboration with leading business instructors from across the country. More than 165,000 participants have completed FastTrac classes in the United States since 1993.

Sessions for FastTrac NewVenture and FastTrac GrowthVenture will be held from 6-9:00 p.m. each Tuesday for eleven weeks at the Hankamer School of Business on the Baylor campus.
