Business School Honors Men's Tennis Team
Oct. 4, 2004The Hankamer School of Business held a reception for the NCAA champion Men's
Tennis Team and coaching staff today. With the exception of one player, all
the members of the team are business majors.
"We felt it was important to express our appreciation for these special
students," said Terry Maness, dean of the School. "We wanted to congratulate
them on their success and celebrate with them.
Blaine McCormick, associate dean for undergraduate programs, brought some historical
interest to the event. Citing a Lariat article from the early 1900's, McCormick
explained that "Earl Hankamer, for whom the Business School is named, was
a tennis player at Baylor and he was raised in a German-speaking home."
40% of the current team is from Germany.
