Dr. Jane Baldwin Wins HSB Teaching Excellence AwardApril 15, 2004
On April 14, 2004, Dr. Jane Baldwin, Director of Graduate Accounting Programs and professor of accounting, received the 2004 HSB Teaching Excellence Award at the Spring Awards Banquet.
A member of the Baylor faculty since 1981, Dr. Baldwin has long been recognized by students and faculty as a superb teacher. A single visit to her classroom leaves no doubt that she has a passion for teaching. When asked about her philosophy of teaching, Dr. Baldwin responded, "For me, teaching is a calling that was confirmed when I taught my first class as an MBA student at Baylor. We give by teaching. But the very act of teaching gives us back so much, inspiring us to teach better so we can give more."
This is not Dr. Baldwin's first recognition as an outstanding professor. In 1999 she was named Accounting Educator of the Year by the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, and in 1991 students voted her as the Most Popular Business Professor. She has also been recognized twice in Who's Who among America's Teachers.
Dr. Baldwin's teaching expertise extends beyond the classroom. She has published pedagogical research in Advances in Accounting Education and Journal of Accounting Education.
Dr. Baldwin holds a BS in accounting from Arkansas State University, an MBA from Baylor University, and a PhD from the University of Arkansas.
