Accounting & Business Law

Bill Thomas, Professor of Accounting and holder of The J.E. Bush Professorship in Accounting, and Kathy Hurtt, assistant professor, wrote "Implementing a Required Ethics Class for Students in Accounting: The Texas Experience." The paper describes a triangulated case study of experiences and attitudes of educators in Texas regarding recent implementation of a three-hour ethics requirement for CPA Exam candidates. The authors studied course syllabi and surveyed instructors as their experiences.

Thomas also published the two-part series "The Risk Assessment Standards: Refining Auditing from the Ground Up" and "Putting the Rubber to the Road" in Today's CPA, the journal of the Texas Society of CPAs. The articles appeared in the following issues: September October 2007, Vol 35, No. 2, pages 34-41 and Vol. 35, No. 3, November/December 2007.

Management Information Systems

Gina Green, associate professor, was awarded a $2,000 grant from the Dell Foundation to support a planned summer business technology camp.

Marketing

Marjorie Cooper, professor, presented "Avoiding the Chaos: How To Improve Your Project Performance" to the Association for Operations Management (APICS PDM) meeting in Austin.
