Though their lives have taken them far away from Baylor University, Stuart (BBA '85, MBA '86) and Gina Solomon (BS '85) have remained close to their alma mater.
Whether hosting send-off parties or other Parents League activities, serving on boards or faithfully representing their alma mater to those around them in their hometown of McLean, Va., the Solomons make it clear how highly they value their Baylor experience. That example had an impact on their three children, Melissa, Michelle and Jeffrey, all current students at Baylor.
For their service, Stuart and Gina were honored as the Baylor University Parents of the Year by the Baylor Parents League. The couple was recognized at halftime of the Baylor vs. TCU football game October 13.
"We are delighted to honor Stu and Gina Solomon as our Parents of the Year," Judy Maggard Director of Parent Programs said. "Stu and Gina have remained faithful to the University through their service and dedication not only to the Parents League but to many other areas of University life. They are outstanding representatives of the values and Christian ideals which are at the heart of Baylor University."
Their dedication reaches throughout the University. Stuart serves on the Hankamer School of Business Advisory board, and they have aided in recruiting and development by hosting various Baylor groups in the Washington area. Active in the Washington, D.C., Parents League Chapter, they participate in annual send-off parties and monthly First Call to Prayer gatherings.
This summer, their send-off party received a boost of excitement from the attendance of President Ken Starr and First Lady Alice Starr, along with Baylor's Heisman Trophy-winning former quarterback, Robert Griffin III, who is now a rookie for the Washington Redskins.
The Solomons' three children, Melissa and Michelle, both seniors, and Jeffrey, a sophomore, praised their parents' examples as Christian leaders through their service to the church, to their community and to Baylor.
Please join us in congratulating Stuart and GIna Solomon as our Baylor Parents of the Year.
