Especially for Sophomores



Sophomore students (completion of at least 30 semester hours), are either required or recommended to be advised according to specific majors and programs before registration for classes.

Defining - 2nd year (Sophomore)

Academic - Gain Specific Information

  • Seek academic advice from College of Arts & Sciences Advisement (CASA) Sid Richardson, or from the appropriate academic department.
  • Focus on GPA; for help go to Academic Support Programs, 010 Sid Richardson.
  • Choose a major but if you're still undecided meet with Career Counseling, 132 Sid Richardson.
  • Develop a tentative degree plan, attend career and job search workshops to learn and build contacts.
  • Talk with others in your major, develop relationships with faculty and staff who can later serve as references.
  • Consider study abroad or co-operative education as well as internships.
  • Continue to build your GPA; employers and most grad schools set minimums between 3.0 & 3.5.
