Rachel is a first-year student in the Sociology PhD program. She earned both her BA and MA at the University of Oklahoma. Her BA focused on Nonprofit Management and Small Business Management. During graduate school she concentrated on the intersection of Public Administration, bureaucratic processes and the Nonprofit Sector. During her graduate career, Rachel was intrigued by gentrification and its interactions with the Nonprofit Sector and the opportunities to foster efficient communication between institutions. This interest led her to the Community Center for Research and Development at Baylor.
Rachel’s areas of study are the Nonprofit Sector, Public Administration, community, gentrification, and the bureaucracy. She hopes to research the Nonprofit Sector’s reaction to gentrification particularly in defining and analyzing nonprofit interest to urban issues like gentrification.
