Meet Dr. Lisa M. Jones

FastBacc® program at the Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing is an intensive one-year commitment to becoming a nurse in an accelerated pace. Getting to know the incredible faculty that teach this revered program makes the educational experience even better. Meet Lisa M. Jones, DNP, MPH, RN, Clinical Coordinator at the LHSON.

What is your role with FastBacc®? Why do you enjoy teaching in this program?
My role is Clinical Coordinator. I help with clinical instructors and clinical assignments. I am also a support to Dr. Hultquist and the students. I enjoy working with the students, I can relate to many of the students because I am a second career nurse. I started in nursing after relocating to Texas and went back to school while raising children and having other community responsibilities.

Describe why you became a nurse and a professor in the field?
I love teaching, I love interacting with people and helping to improve health. Public health is very important to me and nursing allows me to use my public degree with patients and students.

Why did you decide to teach at Baylor and what distinguishes a Baylor nurse?
Baylor is a BIG achievement for me. It is a place where I can teach and live out loud my faith. In my opinion, what distinguishes a Baylor nurse is a nurse who is smart, competent and compassionate. This nurse will go the extra mile and be the patient advocate.  A Baylor nurse is nurse leader!

Describe how a FastBacc® student/grad exemplify LHSON’s motto, Learn.Lead.Serve.®?
These students enter this program ready to give their all to their studies, their peers and their patients.  I love the community culture the program fosters and the way the students exhibit this community.
