Can I take a tour?
We’d love for you to take one! You can register by clicking the “Register Now” button above and complete our tour registration form.
Does the tour cost anything?
Nope! Baylor History Tours are complimentary and are run by Baylor Student Learning and Engagement.
How often are tours offered?
Tours run based on demand and we try to meet every request we are able to. We schedule tours based upon the shared availability of our guests and our tour guides. We also offer four suggested times that are specifically available each week.
Fridays- 8am and Noon
Can I request a custom tour time?
Please do. We’d love to hear from you. During registration, if you do not select a suggested tour time you will be asked to suggest some times you are available for a tour. Based on those times you will be matched with an available tour guide and we will do our best to make one of your requested times work.
How much time should I set aside for the tour?
The standard walking tour lasts about 75 minutes and includes a visit to historic Armstrong Browning Library. We also offer a 60 minute tour without a visit to Armstrong Browning Library and several express tours which lasts about 30 minutes.
How much walking is involved?
The standard walking tour is about 3/4 of a mile. The express tours are about 1/3 - 1/2 of a mile. We offer several opportunities to sit during the tour. If you need assistance, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
Is the route ADA accessible?
If needed is a wheelchair provided?
Yes! Upon request, we can obtain a wheelchair from the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
Where do we meet to begin the tour?
Most tours begin at the Bill and Eva Williams Bear Habitat, between the Bill Daniel Student Center and the Baylor Bookstore. Our express tours begin at the Judge Baylor statue, which is at the East end of Founder’s Mall.
Are tours available on weekends or during evening hours?
Are tours available during academic breaks?
Sometimes. Just "ask" via our registration form to see if tour guides are available.
What if it rains the day of my tour?
We will be in contact with you and together we can make a decision whether to reschedule or not. Assuming conditions are safe, we don’t mind a little weather if you don’t.
How many guests can go on each tour?
We are able to host groups of up to 30 at one time. However, we find 15 or less is the ideal tour size so for large groups we may split the group up into two concurrent tours (if you are ok with that of course).
What if I have a group larger than 30?
We can make that happen! However, given the size of the group we will likely need to split the group into multiple tours. Pending guide availability, we may be able to run the different tours concurrently, or we may need to stagger them (in which case we’d be happy to provide some suggestions of other things to do on campus for the portion of your group not touring).
