Conflict, although often thought of as negative, can be very positive. When conflict is handled effectively, it can improve decision and actions by enabling people to freely express and constructively consider and debate ideas.
However, when conflict is handled inappropriately, it affects both teams and individuals. Poorly handled conflict interferes with work relationships, increases stress, and can fragment teams. Negative conflict also correlates with increased absenteeism and turnover rates.
