WHAT... is the Career Closet

The Baylor University Career & Professional Development Center's Career Closet is a resource of new/ gently used casual and business professional attire, free of charge, to all currently enrolled Baylor University students. The Career Closet will assist students with their professional dress needs for on campus employment opportunities, interviews, career fairs, professional conferences, and competitions.  Our goal is to ensure all students feel equally prepared for their “SUCCESS BEYOND BAYLOR”

WHERE… is it located

Career and Professional Development (CPD) has created an apparel/clothing closet located within the Career Center, the West Wing in the Sid Richardson Building. This closet will be open to all enrolled Baylor University students and an appointment is not necessary. Students will sign in as a drop-in appointment through the Handshake system when they arrive at CPD. Career Closet hours are from 9am - 4pm, Monday through Friday. If these times do not work for you, contact CPD for an alternative time.

WHO… does this impact

The Career Closet is designed to assist students who may not have funds to purchase appropriate business attire. The Career Closet will be a way to show students how to showcase their skills in a presentable and professional manner to employers.

HOW… can you help

Donations will be accepted throughout the year at the Career & Professional Development Center (CPD).  Additionally, a clothing drive will be held once a semester to increase inventory. The clothing drive will focus on obtaining attire that is of good to excellent quality and was purchased in the last five years, or is within current fashion. The Career Closet will accept donations for interview-appropriate clothing and accessories.

Specific needs are:

  • Professional suits, slacks, jackets, and shirts for both men and women of all sizes
  • Scarves, ties, belts, and new socks
  • Shoes in all sizes for both men and women
  • Variety of sizes, including plus size

Guidelines for donation:

  • All clothing must be in good condition, cleaned and ready to wear
  • Clothing must be less than 5 years old and/or in style
  • Please donate items you would feel comfortable wearing to an interview yourself

Financial Support

While we appreciate the clothing donations we receive, additional financial support will allow us to purchase other much needed or additional items for our students. Monetary donations will be used to supplement the Career Closet inventory and other career development-related items.
