The Office of Career and Professional Development encompasses six distinct areas. Career Exploration is often the starting place for students and alumni who are undecided in their major or career path. Students work with CPD’s career advisors to identify potential college majors and careers through self-assessment, goal-setting, and action plans.
If you would like to try the self-guided approach, take the FOCUS 2 online assessment.
About the Career Exploration Process
Start the conversation about your strengths and interests in a brief meeting with one of our career advisors. You will discuss your personality, interests, strengths and values, and receive instructions on how to access the online assessments.
Group Interpretation of Assessments
Review the results of your Strong Interest Inventory and Myers-Briggs Type Indicator assessments in a one-hour group workshop. Counselors will interpret your results, review careers and majors that match your personality and interests, and share websites and resources for obtaining career and major information.
Individual Follow-Up Plan
Still not quite sure what you want to do? Meet with one of our advisors for a follow-up appointment to discuss your options and develop a plan of action to guide you in finalizing your decision.
