Baylor took home a 6th place finish from the University of Toledo Invitational Sales Competition (UTISC). Sales teams from 33 universities participated in this competition which showcases junior- and sophomore-level talent.

Baylor ProSales student Harley Byrne took 3rd place in the junior division, while Elizabeth Grotberg placed 1st in round one of her room for the sophomore division and competed through the quarter finals. As a result of Harley and Elizabeth’s combined efforts, the Baylor sales team placed 6th overall. Harley and Elizabeth’s development was supported by a team of students: Trey Compton (who competed as an alternate and took 6th place overall in the Junior Division), and Brian Galbraith.

Third-place Harley Byrne shared, “The UTISC was an unforgettable experience that pushed me to perform to my absolute best, as I was surrounded by such extraordinary talent from my teammates and other competitors. Although the case was challenging, my coaches, teammates, and I were able to successfully navigate through it together, while consistently encouraging one another. I am extremely grateful for this opportunity, as it gave me a look into real life sales scenarios, while being able to network with students and companies from across the country.”

Stepping in at the last minute to replace a competitor who dropped out from another university, Trey Compton placed 6th out of 36 competitors in the Junior division. As he notes, “Competing in UTISC was one of the best sales experiences that I have gotten to experience in college so far. While I was originally supposed to be a coach, I was placed as an alternate and was able to compete. Being able to compete against my own team as well as others was a rewarding experience as it made the competition more fun since there was an added level of competition! I am thankful for my team and for how hard they worked as well as the opportunity to compete at a collegiate level.”

Other participating universities included Asbury University, Aurora University, Bowling Green State University, Central Michigan University, Eastern Michigan University, Florida State University, Georgia Southern University, Indiana State University, Kansas State University, Kent State University, Morehouse College, North Carolina A&T State University, Oregon State University, Plymouth State University, Purdue University, Southern New Hampshire University, St. Catherine University, Temple University, Tuskegee University, University of Cincinnati, University of Dayton, University of Minnesota, University of North Alabama, University of Texas at Dallas, University of Toledo, University of Wisconsin Eau Claire, University of Wisconsin Whitewater, University of Wyoming, Utah State University, West Virginia University, Western Michigan University, and Winona State University.
