Richard Segina began his career at NationsBanc Capital Markets, now Bank of America, as an Institutional Sales Rep, shortly after graduating from Rice University with a BA in Managerial Studies and Economics. “Learning that we all make decisions based on our own definition of value is what led me to a sales career.” Today, with over two decades of industry experience, he is the General Manager, South Texas for Stryker Orthopaedics.
Working in enterprise software sales for 14 years, Richard only wishes he had transitioned to Stryker and medical devices earlier. “We have had tremendous success the past several years, consistently being in the top 5 performing markets in all of Stryker and achieving a 5-year Annual Growth Rate of over 12% in a market that is growing at 3%.”
Richard’s responsibilities include sales, service, and distribution of Stryker’s Joint Replacement, Mako Robotics, Trauma and Extremities Implant product lines. On a daily basis, he leads and supports sales and service teams enabling incredible patient outcomes from El Paso to Houston.
Among many professional accomplishments, Richard finds impacting lives and seeing others succeed through his leadership role most rewarding. Personally, his greatest accomplishment is being married to his wife, Wendy, and with her, raising two sons, Paxton and Pearson.
Outside of work, Richard and his family are active volunteers. They serve within their church and support and participate in annual mission trips to help underserved communities, both in the US and abroad. “These opportunities help us focus on what is important. I also believe they give me a big boost professionally by keeping my perspective on serving: my customers, my people, and my company.”
