Cathy Hernandez is Executive Director of the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra and Graduate Professor of Arts Administration at Drexel University. She received her BA in Music from the University of North Texas, her MS in Arts Management from Drexel University, and has worked in arts management for more than twenty years.

Cathy has served on grant award panels at the national level (including the Fulbright) and on arts councils in seven states and three Texas cities. She has served on the boards and committees of numerous cultural organizations, including International Performing Arts for Youth, the Association of Arts Administration Educators, the Texas Nonprofit Theaters, and the Latino Advisory Committee for U.S. Congresswoman Kay Granger.

Cathy has been honored as an “Outstanding Woman of Fort Worth” by the Women’s Center and a “Great Woman of Texas” by the Fort Worth Business Press. She received the Coming Up Taller Award at the White House, the Rudy Eastman Diversity Award from the Live Theatre League of Tarrant County, and the Best Case Study Award from Drexel University’s Arts Management Department. Cathy participated in a cultural exchange with Jordan supported by the U.S. State Department, in the Masterpieces program supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, and in a capacity-building program for culturally-specific organizations at the Kennedy Center.
