Scholarship: Amy Henderson Firth Schp

Information: The Amy Henderson Firth Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund in Communication Sciences and Disorders was established in 2013 by John and Margaret Henderson of Belton, Texas, in loving memory of their daughter Amy Henderson Firth.

Amy Kathleen Henderson Firth was born in Temple, Texas, June 15, 1974, and grew up in Copperas Cove, Texas. She attended the University of Texas at San Antonio, where she received a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education magna cum laude, and later completed a M.S. degree in communication sciences and disorders at Baylor University in 1998.

Amy married Michael Jarrod Firth, her high school sweetheart, on December 30, 1994. Amy and Michael had two children: Matthew and Alyssa. She loved to spend time with her family; enjoyed reading, writing, editing, and photography and was an avid gymnastics and baseball mom. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Belton.

Amy was passionate about her work with children with speech difficulties, and served many autistic children and their families. During her career, she was employed as a speech pathologist at Temple ISD, Belton ISD, and Killeen ISD. Later, she became a private therapist at Integrity Rehab and Kidz Therapeze in Killeen so that she could spend even more time with individual children.

Amy passed away after a short illness on November 26, 2012. She was a beautiful person inside and out, and will always be remembered for her radiant, engaging smile and for her kindness, consideration, and love for others.
