Dr. Tucker Dr. W. Dennis Tucker, Jr. is the Interim Dean for Truett Seminary and Associate Professor of Christian Scriptures. He has served as interim dean since June 1, 2014 and previously served as activing dean from August 2008-December 2010. He also served as Associate Dean for the Seminary from 2007-2014 and has been on faculty at the Seminary since 2002. Prior to coming to Truett in 2002, Dr. Tucker taught at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, AR. He received his Master of Divinity and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. In addition, Dr. Tucker received a Specialist in Education degree in Educational Administration from the University of Louisville. He has completed additional studies at Eden Theological Seminary in St. Louis, MO.

Dr. Tucker's main area of research is the Book of Psalms. In his most recent book is Constructing and Deconstructing Power in Psalms 107-150 (Atlanta: SBL Press, 2014), Dr. Tucker explored the notion of power in the final book of the Psalter and observed an anti-imperial critique in that collection of psalms. He is also editing The Psalter as Witness: The Theology of the Psalter to be released by Baylor University Press in 2015. Other publications include Diachronic and Synchronic: Reading the Psalms in Real Time (London: T & T Clark, 2007), co-edited with Drs. Joel Burnett and William Bellinger. In addition, Dr. Tucker co-authored or co-edited Image and Word (2009), The Story of Israel: A Biblical Theology (2004) and Introduction to Wisdom Literature and the Psalms (2000). He also serves as series editor for The Baylor Handbook on the Hebrew Bible published by Baylor University Press and wrote the first volume in the series on the book of Jonah (2006). Dr. Tucker presents regularly at national meetings as well as international conferences such as the International Organization for the Study of the Old Testament.

Dr. Tucker continues to preach and serve in local congregations. He has served as an interim or on staff in churches in Texas, North Carolina, Kentucky, Indiana, and Arkansas. He and his wife, Tish, have three daughters: Hannah, Sarah, and Hope. Dr. Tucker enjoys running and girl's basketball.
