Bi-vocational/Small Church Certificate of Ministry Program

Certificate of Ministry Program for Small Church
and Bivocational Pastors

George W. Truett Seminary's Certificate of Ministry Program for Small Church and Bivocational Pastors is a home study program designed to improve your skills and help you become a more effective minister of Christ. It is a working out of the admonition of the Apostle Paul to Timothy, "Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed" (2 Timothy 2:15).

The program curriculum is written by a small church pastor who knows and understands the special needs of the small church and bivocational pastor. The curriculum is divided into five sessions:

First Session:
Course 1 Baptist Doctrine & Church History
Course 2 Old Testament Survey

Second Session:
Course 1 Pastoring in a Small Church
Course 2 New Testament Survey

Third Session
(Summer only, offered on Truett campus):
Preaching for Small Church and Bivocational Pastors

Fourth Session:
Course 1 Church Administration
Course 2 The Life of Christ

Fifth Session:
Course 1 Introduction to Counseling
Course 2 The Life of Paul

Each course requires 12 weeks to complete and costs $150, with a one-time non-refundable registration fee of $25. Courses are offered in the fall, spring and summer of each year. All courses are offered by correspondence except the preaching course in the third session. This is a one-week course taught each summer at George W. Truett Seminary's Baugh-Reynolds Campus in Waco where participants study pastoral ministry and preaching.

When you have completed all courses you will receive a Certificate of Ministry from Truett Seminary.
