Baylor offers one in-house scholarship (The Glennis McCrary Goodrich International Scholarship) and promotes various other private scholarships to assist students financially for their time abroad. Please see the links below for more information regarding each scholarship.Adell and Hancock Fund
Open to international students currently studying at a U.S. university or U.S. students engaging in a study abroad program during the next academic year.
Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program
This program offers a competition for study abroad awards for US citizen students who are receiving federal Pell Grant funding at a 2-year or 4-year college or university. This scholarship seeks to lower barriers to undergraduate study abroad by offering scholarships to students with financial need and encourages students underrepresented in study abroad to apply. The awards for semester or academic year study abroad programs are up to $5,000.
British Council: Education UK
Provides support for students to study in Britain, including a searchable database of scholarships.
BUTEX Scholarships
Open to U.S. students engaging in a study abroad program during the next academic year at a university in the United Kingdom. Awards of $1000 are given to those who are chosen.Critical Language Scholarship for Intensive Summer Institutes
The CLS Program provides fully-funded seven to ten week group-based intensive language instruction and extensive cultural enrichment experiences held overseas at the beginning, intermediate and advanced levels (beginning not offered for Azerbaijani, Chinese, Persian or Russian) for U.S. citizen undergraduate, Master's and Ph.D. students.
Fulbright Scholarships
Since 1946, the Department of State Fulbright Program has funded U.S. students and faculty to study and/or conduct research in other countries in order to foster mutual understanding between nations. Please contact Dr. Lianne Fridriksson (Lianne_Fridriksson@baylor.edu) for more details.
German Academic Exchange Service - DAAD
With more than 60,000 scholarships granted each year, DAAD claims that it is the largest academic exchange organization in the world. This service offers several scholarship programs, including one for highly qualified undergraduate students for study abroad, university language or summer courses, senior thesis research and/or internships in the Federal Republic of Germany.
The Glennis McCrary Goodrich International Scholarship
Competitive scholarships for study abroad, available to Baylor students based on merit and need. Applicant must be an undergraduate or graduate student and a US citizen. Awards may be as large as $3,000 for a summer program or $5,000 for a semester program.
Institute of Turkish Studies
Provides grants to graduate and undergraduate students for participation in study abroad and research programs in Turkey. The maximum undergraduate grant is $10,000.
Marshall Scholarships
At least 40 Marshall Scholarships will awarded in 2005. They are tenable at any British university and cover two years of study in any discipline, mostly at graduate level, leading to the award of a British university degree.
National Security Education Program: BOREN AWARDS
Boren Scholarships provide up to $20,000 to U.S. undergraduate students to study abroad in areas of the world that are critical to U.S. interests and underrepresented in study abroad, including Africa, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin American, and the Middle East. The countries of Western Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand are excluded.
National Society of Collegiate Scholars
Offers its members the opportunity to apply for the Scholar Abroad Program. This program funds two $5,000 awards and one $2,500 award each year. One award is made for each fall, spring and summer term.
Phi Beta Kappa and University Scholars Endowed International Scholarship
Given to a Baylor University Scholar major who displays significant financial need and excellent academic credentials. The scholarship, approximately $500 depending on available funds, will be awarded once per academic year.
Rotary International
