Q: What is the Baylor Line? The Baylor Line is the core of Baylor Spirit and Traditions as an organization composed entirely of new incoming students. The Line, established in 1970, represents the commitment of the entire Baylor Nation to support and cheer on the Bears. As the leaders of the Baylor spirit, all new students arrive early and stay until the singing of That Good Old Baylor Line after each home football game. All new students represent this great tradition by wearing a football jersey with the number of their graduation year and a nickname on the back. Prior to each home football game, the Line gathers at one end of Floyd Casey Stadium and, led by the cheers of alumni and fans, runs onto the field and creates an enormous human tunnel to welcome the football team to Floyd Casey Stadium. After each player and coach has entered the stadium, The Line takes their seats in an exclusive Baylor Line section behind the opponent's bench to cheer on the Bears to victory.
Buy a jersey, run the Line, and join generations of Baylor students as the leaders of the Baylor spirit.
Q: What is the difference between Baylor Line Camp and Baylor Line?Baylor Line Camp is a time in the summer where new students come together to generate enthusiasm and excitement while encouraging the Baylor spirit in campus activities, traditions, and athletic events. In addition, new students learn to begin modeling character and sportsmanship in all events and activities as they prepare for college and beyond.
The Baylor Line is an organization composed entirely of freshmen. Students wear a football jersey with the number of their graduation year and nickname on the back. Before each football game, the Line gathers at one end of Floyd Casey Stadium and waits for the signal to rush the field. Led by ten Baylor Line members running flags with the letters B-A-Y-L-O-R L-I-N-E, the line rushes the field and creates an enormous human tunnel for the football players to run through. After that, students charge the sidelines and stand in an exclusive Baylor Line section behind the opponent's bench. Here, students heckle the other team while cheering Baylor to victory!
Q: If I go to a Baylor Line Camp, will I get a Baylor Line Jersey? All students who attend an on-campus Baylor Line Camp will receive a Baylor Line Jersey as part of their camp fees. Those students who are attending the Outdoor Adventure Baylor Line Camp do not receive Jerseys and must purchase one apart from their camp fees in order to run the Baylor Line.
Q: Where do I pick up my Baylor Line Jersey?
I'm going to Line Camp: All students attending an on-campus Line Camp will get their jersey at Line Camp. Students attending the Outdoor Adventure Line Camp will not receive a Baylor Line jersey and must purchase one separate from their camp fees.
I'm Not Able to Attend Line Camp: All students not attending an on-campus Line Camp can order their jersey at www.baylor.edu/baylorline. Jerseys will be delivered during Move-In or can be picked up in the Office of Student Activities during the following week. Remaining jerseys will be delivered to on-campus mailboxes.
Q: How much does a Baylor Line Jersey cost?Baylor Line Jerseys cost $40 plus tax and include a slime cap (another Baylor tradition). Because admission to games is free for all Baylor students, this comes out to roughly $6 per game. No extra fees are added for the nickname printed on the back of the Jersey.
Q: Do I have to pay anything more than the cost of the Jersey to be on the Baylor Line?NO! The only thing a Baylor Line member needs to be in the Baylor Line is a Baylor Line Jersey!
Q: Can transfer students purchase a Baylor Line Jersey?YES! The Baylor Line is a long standing freshman tradition that dates back to 1970; however, new students who were not freshmen have not been able to purchase a Jersey with their own graduation year on the back until now. Transfer students are encouraged to rush the field with all new students before the game and to take part in other traditions the Baylor Line has to offer.
Q: Can I still be in the Baylor Line if I don't purchase a Line Jersey? In order to be in the Baylor Line, you MUST be wearing a Baylor Line Jersey as this is at the heart of the Baylor Line tradition.
