[CASE STUDY: FIESTA]
Tomala, Pruebala, Vivela! Hosted by the Hispanic Student Association, Fiesta's theme of "Take it,taste it, live it!" comes to vibrant life every year just before finals. Spring is in the air, and summer's so close that student and families can almost taste it. And taste it they do. From street tacos and paletas, to a Texas favorite - salsa, Fiesta is a collage of flavor.
Fiesta visitors can enjoy free food, live music, Latin dancing, a children's carnival, and performances from troupes such as Baylor's Ballet Folklorico Ocelotl and Danza Azteca. Beyond an afternoon of fun, Fiesta celebrates the Hispanic heritage of many of Baylor's students and introduces the greater Waco community to a fuller understanding of the Hispanic culture.
Baylor's total student body number more than 14,000, with students representing every state in the country and 70 foreign countries. The Department of Student Activities works with the Department of Multicultural Affairs to provide a sense of belonging for every single student at Baylor, supporting more than 40 multicultural organizations, as well as scores of special interest groups that recognize the need for individuality coupled with a place to call home.
