What is a Slime Cap?

]
More than just head cover, students began wearing caps with the year of their anticipated graduation on them as early as the turn of the 20th century. Entering students were encouraged to wear the cap as a symbol of their status as freshman, usually with their name and hometown on the bill which was turned up for others to see. During the 1950s, freshmen were required to wear them every day until the Homecoming football game. Today, slime caps are worn by new students during their first year at Baylor as part of their traditional game day and spirit apparel.
