BU Students Serve
"In so many ways the people I have gone to 'serve' have blessed me far greater than I could ever repay them for. The lessons God has taught me through those people have shaped the way I live my life." - Ashley Stone

SERVICE REFLECTION JOURNAL MAKING AN IMPACT

The Department of Student Activities is proud to announce the second annual Service Reflection Journal! The Service Reflection Journal is designed to provide students with opportunities to reflect on their own service experiences and lead others to consider the role of service in their lives. Baylor faculty, students, staff, and alumni; Waco community members; and Waco-area service agency representatives reflected upon their own service experiences in the hopes that they could inspire students to contemplate service, personal growth, and the Baylor experience. The journal includes one entry for each week of the academic year and provides plenty of free journaling space for Service Chairs and student leaders to write about their own experiences. PURPOSE OF COMMUNITY SERVICE AT BAYLOR UNIVERSITY

The purpose of the Office for Community Service is to facilitate meaningful service opportunities for students in order to develop and foster leadership in areas of social responsibility. The ultimate goal of community service is to instill the spirit of volunteerism and service-learning into the lifestyles of students so that they will continue to be committed to the value of service even after they leave the university setting.

The office of Community Services provides hundreds of volunteer opportunities for individuals as well as groups. Projects can be on a one-time basis or through a semester long commitment. Students, faculty and staff volunteer at various agencies and organizations in and around Waco. Baylor students average approximately 100,000 hours of community service per year.
