University Ombudsman for Staff

For the past several years, both the faculty and student bodies have had an ombudsman - neither of which serves Baylor staff. A resolution proposing the creation of a staff ombudsman was passed by the council last fall and has been presented to the administration.

The Ombudsman for Staff would provide a safe, comfortable, and confidential environment for staff to discuss concerns or complaints outside formal channels and could make recommendations towards resolving any conflicts. This service would be in addition to Baylor University's anonymous Ethics Point service and the University's official grievance policy, BU-PP 822.

Over the summer, Dorynda Brock and Lisa Hoxworth met with the Office of the General Council and were informed that the University Executive Council had approved the project. Details are currently being worked on regarding implementation, structuring, personnel, etc. for the new position.
