What’s that one thing that led you to be a part of Spiritual Life?

Being able to use my strengths and gifts within the context of ministry, specifically missions, to enable others to be Christ and experience God with people around the world.

What is your favorite part of working at Baylor?

Our TEAM…hands down!

What book or books are you reading right now?

“Eat, Pray, Love” by Elizabeth Gilbert

“Your First Triathlon” by Joe Friel.

What book or books have most influenced your spiritual growth?

“It’s Incredible” by Ann Kiemel, “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee, “Traveling Mercies” by Anne Lamott, “In the Name of Jesus” by Henri Nouwen and “Blue Like Jazz” by Donald Miller.

Why have you chosen to work specifically with students?

Most students, in this developmental stage, experience more spiritual and emotional growth than any other time in life. I want to be there to ask challenging questions, create space for them to experience God, and joyfully watch transformation happen.

What is the best movie you’ve seen in the past year?

The Great Debaters.

What is your favorite movie of all time and why?

To Kill a Mockingbird for three main reasons. First, it’s set in a small, rural town similar to my hometown. Second, I am a lot like Scout…independent, fiery, and always ready to fight injustice (and like Scout, that sometimes gets me in trouble). Most of all, because it was the first time I realized that I had a choice to be different from my environment. That realization was very liberating.

When you go to your coffee house of choice, what do you order?

Summer = unsweetened, iced green tea. Cooler months = breve latte with Irish Cream or vanilla

Do you have a pet (s)? What are they and what are their names?

Miniature schnauzer named Madeline, Maddie for short. As a matter of fact, she’s lying in my lap as I answer these questions.

What is under the topic “most played” on your ipod?

Various mixes made by friends, Patti Griffin and Indigo Girls.

What is favorite place to go in Waco?

Cameron Park trails.

What is the craziest or most-unique job you have ever had?

I may have had the most and the most unique jobs of anyone on staff. One of my first jobs was at a nursing home where I cleaned bedpans and enema buckets. If you don’t know what an enema bucket is, trust me, you don’t want to know.

If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?

Ireland…because I’m Irish and I’ve never been.
