A Farewell to Floyd Casey Stadium:
Various ceremonial events held at the final game in Floyd Casey Stadium on Saturday had School of Education Alumni helping to permanently turn out the lights on the stadium: Don Trull, BA '64, Walter Abercrombie, MSED '92 BSED '86, Senior Cyril Richardson
and Bears Quarterback Bryce Petty BSED '13 and presently Master's Candidate in Health, Human Performance and Recreation.

Jefferson Named Big 12 Men's BB Player of the Week

Baylor men's basketball player Cory Jefferson has been named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Player of the Week, as voted on by a panel of media members and announced Monday by the conference office. Jefferson, a senior in Baylor's School of Education, becomes the eighth player in BU history to earn this honor multiple times.
Baylor Professor Named State Advocate for the Gifted
Susan Johnsen, Ph.D., Director of Gifted Programs in Baylor's School of Education and Professor in its Educational Psychology Department, has received special recognition from the Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented. Dr. Johnsen has been named as the TAGT 2013 State Advocate for the Gifted and will be honored at the TAGT Awards Night Ceremony which will take place during the TAGT 2013 Annual Conference December 4-6 in Houston.
Baylor SOE Professor Elected to National Board
Trena Wilkerson,Ph.D, Professor and Graduate Program Director in the School of Education's Curriculum and Instruction Department was recently elected to the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Board of Directors. Dr. Wilkerson will serve a three-year term that begins in April of 2014. School of Education Dean Jon Engelhardt congratulated her and said, "Trena's election is a result of active and recognized professional efforts, leadership and visibility in the field of mathematics over many years and brings considerable recognition not only for her but for Baylor and our mathematics education program."
Veterans, advocates lobby for improved education benefits

Local college leaders advocated for various changes to the Post 9/11 GI Bill, which grants veterans benefits to enroll in college. School of Education Senior Lecturer Dr. Janet Bagby, coordinator of the Veteran Educational and Transition Services Program at Baylor testified before Congressional Representative Bill Flores at the veterans affairs subcommittee hearing on Wednesday.
