Baylor School of Education and Midway ISD announce two new Professional Development Schools
Logo Instagram-ThumbBaylor University School of Education announced the establishment of two new Professional Development Schools (PDS) in partnership with Midway ISD at Midway Middle School and Spring Valley Elementary, beginning fall 2014. Professional Development Schools are innovative institutions formed through partnerships between university professional education programs and preK-12 schools. Their mission is professional preparation of candidates, school and faculty development, inquiry directed at the improvement of practice and enhanced student learning.

Baylor SOE Students and Programs Receive Statewide Recognition
Quest4Quality-ThumbFive students and three programs in the Baylor School of Education (SOE) received statewide recognition from Quest for Quality. A collaboration between CREATE and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, Quest for Quality identifies exemplary teacher candidates and exceptional practices in university-based teacher-preparation programs.

SOE Grad a Finalist for National Education Award
Dr. Marty Crawford, BSEd ’96, Superintendent of West ISD, is a finalist for a national educator award. He was recognized because of his work getting students back to school after the April 17 fertilizer plant explosion in West last year.

Longtime HHPR prof inducted into SWC Hall of Fame
Dutch-ThumbnailFormer Baylor baseball coach Dutch Schroeder, BS ’49, was inducted into the Southwest Conference Hall of Fame on Monday, April 7. Schroeder coached Baylor's baseball team from 1961-73 and then remained on the faculty at Baylor for 27 years in the Department of Health, Human Performance and Recreation. He was also the driving force behind Baylor's "B" Association for former athletic letter winners.

SOE Seniors Try to Solve Real-Life Teaching Problems Through Research
Action Research-ThumbnailWhich is better for learning — small groups or full-classroom instruction? Does individual teacher attention really improve a struggling student’s reading? How do you get rambunctious boys to behave? Those were just a few of the questions that Baylor School of Education seniors tackled as part of the 2014 Action Research Symposium, where one hundred students presented research April 1.
