Four SOE Students Named to Who’s Who
WhosWhoThumb2015-135Four Baylor School of Education (SOE) seniors were named to Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges: Ashlyn Cramer, Middle Grades English, Language Arts and Reading (ELAR) major; Audrey Elledge, Middle Grades English, Language Arts and Reading (ELAR) major; Amy Holecek, Elementary Education major; and Allie Smith, Secondary Mathematics major.

Baylor SOE Well Represented at NAPDS Conference
NAPDS-logo-thumb-135The Baylor School of Education was well represented at the recent conference for the National Association of Professional Development Schools (NAPDS) in Atlanta. Several Baylor SOE faculty members gave presentations, as did Baylor SOE students and representatives from the local Baylor Professional Development School (PDS) campuses.

Baylor SOE Graduate Erin Stamile Joins Staff of Education LLC
Erin Stamile - ThumbBaylor graduate and former Pre-Health Honors Program Coordinator Erin Stamile is now the new Program Director for the Education Living & Learning Center. After applying and interviewing earlier this semester, Stamile stepped into this new position on March 23, 2015. “I would love to get student leaders excited about getting their handprint on the new Education LLC,” Stamile said. “I want them to feel like this is a place they can really call home for years to come.”

Baylor Names New Dean for School of Education
McLendon-ThumbFollowing a nine-month national search, Baylor has announced the appointment of Michael K. McLendon, Ph.D., as dean of Baylor’s School of Education. He is a 1991 graduate of Baylor. Dr. McLendon currently holds the Harold and Annette Simmons Centennial Chair in Higher Education Policy and Leadership at Southern Methodist University (SMU), where he serves as a full professor and the associate dean of SMU’s Simmons School of Education and Human Development. He also holds appointment as a Fellow both with SMU’s John Goodwin Tower Center for Political Studies and the University of Georgia’s Institute of Higher Education.

SOE Grad Programs Ranked by U.S. News
US News-Grad-thumbBaylor School of Education is one of only three Texas schools in the top 100 of the newly released list of 2016 Best Graduate Schools of Education from U.S. News. Baylor School of Education advanced to No. 83, up nine places from its last ranking in 2014. To determine the rankings, U.S. News surveyed graduate education programs at 357 schools granting doctoral degrees in fall 2014.
