Agency Mission/Services:
Providence Hospice is dedicated to providing compassionate care for persons with a terminal illness by attending to the physical, emotional, social and spiritual concerns of the patients and families, prior to and following death. The Hospice provides services and support in a variety of settings, regardless of ability to pay through collaboration of community services and our resources.

Baccalaureate/MSW Foundation: Initial orientation to include exposure to all disciplines and their role in hospice and joint visits with social worker. Attend IDG weekly. Assignment of patients (to intern) who are in need of additional to student's level. Exposure to macro could be incorporated.

MSW Concentration: Assignment of patients and families with various issues so intern could experience wide range of exposure to issues related to death and dying. Complete social worker assessments to assigned patients and contribute to plan of care. Attend weekly IDG meeting. Macro placement an option-working with agency manager who is MSW. Special projects designed to give exposure on administration level.

Good communication skills; cares about people; comfortable with senior adults; self-motivated; organized

Agency Hours:
8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday-Friday

Training Required:
Would prefer that intern complete 30 hour volunteer training class, but orientation can be incorporated into placement assignments.
