The Faith and Service Technical Education Network identifies itself in terms of "sharing knowledge, strengthening connections, improving outcomes." The FASTEN Research Team led by a faculty research team in the Baylor University School of Social Work, organized its work around the purpose of identifying what faith-based organizations (FBOs) and congregations are doing as they address problems of urban poverty. In this, we believe our results will support the overall goals of the FASTEN Network.
Our national study of the social service programs offered by congregations and FBOs continues to provide insights into a variety of practices that are offered in local communities. The study began with the recognition that little research has explored the dimension of religion and faith in organizational behavior. This Web site reports on our findings from this national study comprised of data from qualitative interviews and a quantitative survey.
