About Dr. Rizalia Klausmeyer
Rizalia Klausmeyer was born in Puerto Rico to Victor and Maria Buonomo. She received a B.S. in Chemistry, Magna Cum Laude, in 1991 from the University of Puerto Rico and a Ph.D. in chemistry from Texas A&M University, College Station, in 1996. After an industrial postdoc at Rohm and Haas, she started her teaching career at the University of Illinois, in Urbana-Champaign, as Director of the Freshmen Laboratories. Her Baylor career started in 2000 as a lecturer and was made senior lecturer in 2007. In 2013 she accepted a new position as Associate Director of Prehealth Studies and Program Director of the Science and Health LLC.
She met her husband, Kevin Klausmeyer, while at Texas A&M University and they got married on April 1997. They have three daughters; Margaret (15), Elizabeth (12) and Mary-Grace (9). On her free time she likes reading books- lots of books - and gardening. Most of the family likes softball, volleyball, and playing board games (not typical games but geeky ones like Merchants of Venus, Settlers, and Advanced Squad Leader). Mary-Grace does not like softball all that much but enjoys volleyball, baking and gardening with mom. They also have two really silly dogs and a cat with a serious attitude problem.
