Celebrating Your Achievement

May 15, 2020

Dear Master's and Doctoral Graduates,

In these days leading up to Baylor University’s graduation weekend, you and your master’s and doctoral candidate colleagues have been especially on my mind and my heart. The academic rigor and requirements of your graduate education at Baylor make your achievement especially significant, and I celebrate your success with you.

As you may know, your graduate regalia tells a rich story of your academic journey. It symbolizes all that you have poured into your discipline, your research, and your teaching. Though you won’t have the opportunity to wear it at the Ferrell Center this weekend, we hope you will join us in August or December and give us the chance to recognize you in a special graduation ceremony.

I want to commend you for your diligent work during your time at Baylor. You are the next generation of professional, intellectual, and educational leaders. I am proud of all you have accomplished as part of the academic community, even in the midst of an uncertain and unfamiliar time resulting from COVID-19.

I hope that your experience at Baylor has served as a period of growth and reflection. As you follow your calling, jealously protect your passion for your discipline, and as you enter the next phase of your life, do so with the confidence that your faculty, your mentors, and the leadership of this University are cheering you on.

You are forever a part of the fabric of Baylor University and the greater academe. Your graduation does not end your time as member of the Baylor Family; in fact, it is the beginning of a wonderful new phase as an alum. Please keep in touch and return to Baylor as often as you are able. We look forward to welcoming you home again.

Sincerely,

Linda A. Livingstone, Ph.D.
President

P.S. We will have a special celebration of each of you on the scoreboard at McLane Stadium beginning at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow morning. Tune into Baylor University’s Facebook page to see your name in lights.
